Lucky number 7! Why is the number 7 considered so lucky? Well, there are 7 colors in the rainbow, 7 continents, 7 days of the week, 7 seas, and 7 notes on a scale of music! 7 is a big deal, so documenting your child’s 7th birthday seems like the perfect thing to do right? I couldn’t agree more! Your child is growing up, they’t not babies, but not quite a tween. They special. This is the year where there is still magic all around them, but they seem to know so much more than they ever did… and they’re still sweet. They still love cuddles with Mom, but maybe now its Mom, and not so much Mommy.

For this little lady’s 7th birthday, she wanted to be on the beach! Do you blame her? A girl after my own heart! I adore the beach, and when I told her Mom about one of my favorite spots in NJ she knew, Birthday Portraits in Cape May just HAD to happen!

When she arrived I was blown away by how beautiful she looked. She had professional hair and makeup done and was wearing the prettiest dress! She even had an outfit change!

The weather was on our side, despite the smoke coming down from the Canadian Wildfires causing haze in our sky. The sun was still shining creating a magical glow in the evening on the beach, perfect for her Birthday Portraits in Cape May!

Oh, Summer of 2022 – You have already proven yourself amazing! Starting this summer with working on the beach, has thus far been fantastic! This Ocean City Family Beach Session was so perfect. From the colors to the laughter, I couldn’t help but smile while editing these images.

You know it’s going to be a good session when the kids are bringing you amazing seashells over and over again! How precious of a memory is that. If this little boy grows up to only remember how amazing it was to find seashells on the beach, I think my job was complete – even before the session started. I say that because these sessions should not be able remembering some lady with a camera tell you to smile. These kids should be remembering how much fun it was to feel the sand drip from their little toes. These kids should remember how peaceful the ocean was that night, when they walked up the path holding their parents hands. The parents should be remembering how easy it was and how much love their felt for their children as they watched them be wild and free in the wind that night. Their children soaked up the summer breeze and didn’t have a care in the world other than playing at the beach and laughing the entire time.

Ocean City, NJ is a place of memories by default. What you make of it, is purely up to you. I choose joy, each and every single day and you should too!

Gillian’s Wonderland Pier – My favorite backdrop for an Extended Family Beach Session in Ocean City, NJ! Whether you are a local and you simply love this spot or you are vacationing and want to be sure to see all of the amazing locations that Ocean City, NJ has to offer – this is a spot to truly add to your list! Not only is it a wonderful amusement park right on the boardwalk, but it’s a very scenic spot for beautiful portraits and the boardwalk is usually pretty empty past Wonderland because it’s just boardwalk. Also, if you are wanting to make an evening of your portrait session, you can head over to Wonderland Pier when you’re done and it’s fun for the whole family! Wonderland Pier is family owned and operated and if you follow me, you KNOW I love supporting local small businesses (such as myself!).

Ocean City is such a beautiful town and it was the perfect spot for this fun extended family session! I love that they were so full of energy and ready to JUMP on the beach (yes, they really did jump!) Not only that but can you spot the engaged couple? I was so happy to be a part of this wonderful family memory for them and I can’t wait for more fun sessions like this!
