Its fall! The leaves are changing colors and your children are getting bigger. You want to document this season to remember how cute they look in those brown corduroy pants that stinking adorable pumpkin sweater! Because next year, they probably won’t allow you to dress them, so savor this moment. So the question is, do you book a mini session or a full session?
You need to first take a look at your family, and see what would work best for them. If your children like props, and love a good theme, but get bored easily – then perhaps a mini session is your best bet! Mini sessions are usually themed, and can last anywhere from 10-15 minutes.
A full session would allow your family up to 1 full hour to walk around a location of your choice. Your family will be able to play, laugh, have fun and make a really great memory out of this. Your photographer (me!) would walk with you, capture fun candids of your family enjoying each other, and pose you when we get to the really amazing spots. Some people think that the 1 hour is too long for a child, but, when you really think about it, we aren’t photographing for that entire hour, your children are running, laughing and having a great time!
Both sessions will allow you to obtain beautiful images of your family, that’s no doubt! It really depends on you and your family and what you are looking for. With all of that said, let’s jump into some photo examples of a fall mini session and a full session below, and don’t forget to check out our list of mini sessions for the 2020-2021 year here, and to book your full session click here!

Covid 19 has impacted our lives in so many different ways. For instance, you may have lost people near and dear to you, had to stay home and quarantine, or have your newborn session at home! However you are coping with this pandemic, please know that small businesses are able to still help you with your needs, however, we are operating a little bit differently as of late.
This beautiful baby girl made her appearance a little bit early, and during this pandemic. Therefore we couldn’t have an in studio session because of social distancing, however – we found a way!
I spoke to Mom about expectations and how the session would go. I dropped off newborn fabric wraps and headbands and directions ahead of time on how to wash and sanitize the items to protect her baby and the fabrics as well. She was able to select which colors she wanted to use, and then when I showed up we were able get to work!
Because of social distancing and the delicate immune system of a newborn baby, I advised Mom that I can not touch her new bundle of joy. The health and safety of newborn babies and their families is always my number one concern. Therefore, Mom had to wrap her little one on her own (Which honestly, made for some beautiful images that she will remember forever!) She wrapped her like a pro! I am so proud of her, and how well she was able to listen to direction and help make this session even more beautiful!
How did I protect the baby? Good question!
1. No contact at all!
2. I stayed 6ft-12ft away at all times
3. I shot with a 70-200mm Lens (I shoot Nikon, you can find the exact lens I shoot with by clicking here, and the exact body I shot with by clicking here).
3. I allowed Mom to pre-wash the materials in her own laundry soap and/or lysol the day before the session. I prefer Dreft for all of my wraps.
4. I wore a mask the entire time. I highly recommend whichever mask you get, you should also purchase filters and cut the back of your mask open and pop in a filter. Not all masks are made to prevent viruses from getting through the fabric. Having a filter helps with that.
5. No hand shaking Mom, Dad or Kids! No contact at all!
6. I also keep hand sanitizer on me as well as disinfectant wipes.
In addition to all of this hard work (Thanks Mom!), I also snuck in some composites too! Composites are digital images that give you that studio look, but are purely digital. That is where my photoshop skills come in handy! (Thank you college education and the Digital Art and Design Program at LIU!)
Anyway, let’s get back to this newborn session at home! It’s not every day that your clients front yard looks like a park! How gorgeous is this! Check out the images and just look at how adorable this little one is, and how perfect their family has become.
If you are planning on having a baby, or if you are approaching your due date and you need a newborn photographer, I would love to photograph your newborn session at home! Once we have the clearance to go back to studio sessions without social distancing, then newborns will be okay to photograph! Until then, we will do our very best to stick to the guidelines set by NJ.
Having a baby is hard work! I know, I’ve had 3 babies myself. So having to wrap your own baby, during your little one’s newborn session is HARD! But during the time that we are going through right now, things are so unknown, and scary, that we really need to think about the safety of our children. Newborn babies especially, do not have their immunizations yet, and can’t fight off a virus that lets say you or I could fight off. Therefore, if Mom is able to wrap her own baby, it’s safer all around for everyone. We have to come together as much as we can right now to keep each other safe.

If you are thinking about booking a Cake Smash Photo Session, just do it! They can be super elaborate or they can be very simple. I am so happy with this cake smash. Mostly because it’s my son! He lovessss Mickey Mouse, so of course I had to have a Vintage Mickey Mouse Cake Smash Photo Session. I didn’t want the bright colors, I wanted vintage film, and I wanted it to look very classic. I am pretty happy with out it turned out, and he LOVED his cake! (Which was from Shoprite in Galloway by the way!)
But before the cake, I always try for portraits. Sometimes they don’t go as planned and we have to bribe baby with something… In this cake, his favorite food – Cheerios! It made him perfectly happy, which we were able to keep him busy until we were ready to surprise him with his cake! Boy was he happy! He loved it and ended up eating HALF of this cake. He was so sleepy after and definitely slept like a bear!
I’d say he had a really good birthday and I will always remember his Vintage Mickey Mouse Cake Smash!

It was a rainy day, but sometimes canceling a session just is NOT an option! I am so thankful to live in such an amazing area where people and business owners are friendly! We decided to head over to a local garden center that has the most amazing greenhouses ever! So, we were set for Greenhouse Portraits in Egg Harbor Township! The flowers were vibrant, and so beautifully colored. Victoria and Austin were basically the most perfect couple ever, and then it stopped raining just in time for us to venture outside and take more amazing portraits! Days like today, are absolute dreams! I will never cancel a session for rain again! Not when there are so many locations that let beautiful light in, and keep us all dry!
Victoria and Austin have been friends for a long time, and are in a very happy relationship, as you can see, they are so adorable! Austin is in the Navy, and Victoria is a photographer right here in NJ! Can you believe this was their very first portrait session? I am pretty sure they could EASILY be on a cover of a magazine! I had such an amazing time getting to know the two of them today, and I am so happy I was able to capture these beautiful images for them!
If you are looking for a similar session, reach out to me today! i would love to take your Greenhouse Portraits in Egg Harbor Township!
